Data Collection
Rekey does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All text processing happens entirely on your device. No keystrokes, text content, or usage data ever leaves your Mac.
Specifically, Rekey:
- Does not connect to the internet
- Does not use analytics or tracking
- Does not include any third-party SDKs
- Does not store or log the text you type
- Does not collect crash reports or diagnostics
Accessibility Permission
Rekey requires macOS Accessibility permission to function. This permission allows the app to intercept keyboard events and perform text correction. The permission is used solely for the app's core functionality — detecting the wrong keyboard layout and replacing the mistyped text. No data obtained through this permission is collected, shared, or transmitted.
Local Storage
Rekey stores your preferences (such as trigger keys, hotkey settings, and excluded apps) locally on your device using macOS UserDefaults. Optional statistics logging, if enabled by you, writes data to a local file in ~/Library/Logs/NovaSwitcher/. This data never leaves your device.
Third-Party Services
Rekey does not use any third-party services, APIs, or cloud infrastructure. The app is fully self-contained with no network dependencies.
Cookies
The Rekey application does not use cookies. The Rekey website may use minimal local storage for language preferences only.
Links to Other Sites
This app or its website may contain links to external sites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of any third-party sites.
Children's Privacy
Rekey does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no data is collected at all, there is no risk to children's privacy.
